There is showcased here a series on IKAT fabrics which are handspun cottons ideal for the warm summers in Delhi and in the choice of the prints chosen they work form subtle possibilities to dramatic accents. Ikat, or Ikkat, is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dyeing process on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. In ikat the resist is formed by binding individual yarns or bundles of yarns with a tight wrapping applied in the desired pattern. The yarns are then dyed to give actually countless options of combinations which make it one of the most sought after fabrics today. The ranges shown are used mainly as trousers and also a suit in a full color which is actually both quite striking though I felt rather understated due to the scale of the Ikat print chosen.
